When I was 10 years old, I had a small shop in my garage where I sold things I had made, like stickers and stationery, and I created weekly newsletters for my customers (the other kids in the neighborhood). This was before the age of home computers, so everything was done by hand, and I liked it that way. I saved most of the money I made, keeping track of it in a ledger; but sometimes I would "splurge" a little and walk or ride my bike to the local drug store to buy...penny candy! After more than 20 years as a professional book designer, I decided to switch gears and design materials others could use to make or decorate, and now customers around the world are in my neighborhood!
My work is usually bold and colorful, and inspired by things and events from my childhood, vintage collectibles, typography, and the beauty of everyday items we normally take for granted.
